HOW DO I REGISTER FOR A NZJFT COMPETITION?

BOYS / GIRLS, SKIERS / SNOWBOARDERS:
1) Registration via Freeride World Tour website, Liveheats
 
2) You must become a freeride world tour member and fill out the waiver's.
  • One event license or season license from FWT is needed to compete in over 10 age categories.
  • If doing 2 or more comps one has to purchase a season license. Upgrading from 1 comp to the season license comps license is possible, just contact us via njuniorfreeridetour@gmail.com

  • After registration and filling in your valid credit card details you will receive a notification you are 'waitlisted' for the event. Closer to date

  • your registration will be confirmed and payment is taken or you may be waitlisted for longer should the amount of registrations exceed the number of spots in your category. The seeding list on FWT is used to decide who will have a spot or not. So please do not book non-refundable flights or accommodation if you are relatively low on the seeding list as there is a chance you may not have a spot to compete.

  • Registration for all age catergories U14 and above are via Freeride World Tour on the link above.
Under 10 AGE CATEGORY:
Under 10 registration is via New Zealand Junior Freeride Tour.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Each event will cost NZ$ 100.00/ EU 55
  • This does not include FWT license fee or processing fee needed for all age categories above under 10's.
  • UNDER 10 DO NOT NEED A LICENSE
  • This does not include a lift pass although we have negotiated reduced rates for athletes.

WHAT AGE CATEGORY AM I IN?

U10 is special age category unique to NZJFT. Riders 7, 8, 9 & 10 yrs must be competent riders and can register via email: nzjuniorfreeridetour@gmail.com

The event organisers can cancel this category based on conditions of the competition day. 10 yr old can also move up to the U14 category or remain in this category till they turn 11 yrs.
 

U-14: This category is for riders 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14. The rider must not have turned 15 on the day of a competition. Juniors 14 yrs old are still allowed to compete in the U-14 category until they are 15 years old but can switch to the following category (U-16 for ski men, U-18 for the 3 others categories). As soon as they turn 10 years old, Junior riders can purchase a license and start competing in the U-14 age group or stay in U10 till they turn 11. 10 yr olds can also stay in the U10 category (New zealand rule only)
 

U-18 Ski Female and Snowboard Male/ Female: This category is for riders 15, 16, 17 18 years old. The rider must not have turned 19 on the day of a competition. Juniors turning 19 years old on the day of a competition cannot compete as "Junior U-18" and have to switch to the FWT QUALIFIER series as soon as they turn 19 years old. Juniors turning 18 years old are still allowed to compete in the U-18 category until 19 years old but can choose to switch to the FWT QUALIFIERS series.
 

U-16: This category is for ski men riders between 14, 15 & 16 years old. The rider must not have turned 17 on the day of a competition. Juniors ski men turning 16 are still allowed to compete in the U-16 category until they are 17 years old but can switch to the following category (U-18). Juniors ski boys who turned 17 can still compete as a "Junior U-16" but can choose to switch to the Junior U-18 category as soon as they turn 17 or to finish the ongoing season as a U-16. 14 jr old ski men can either compete in U16 or in U14 (till they are 15yrs old)

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

U14, U16 & U18 Categories:

Helmet, Back Protection, Backpack, Avalanche Transceiver, Shovel and

Probe are mandatory.

Equipment will be checked on comp day and if any piece is missing no

competition!

Mouth guard and ABS are not mandatory but highly recommended

Under 10 Category:

Helmet and backpack compulsory.

Some resorts may require all athletes to need avalanche equipment so bring in case.

In the case of high winds & steep hiking to the start we suggest that you have a safety line for your young rider with you.

Invitations to JFT World Championships.

The athletes who are awarded the world championship invitations will be the top ranked riders in each U-18 age category.

Note: Invitations will be awarded to the riders who show maturity, professionalism and skills needed to represent our nation on the world stage. These invitations will be awarded at NZJFT’s discretion.
