Stop #3 - Turoa 3*, Mt Ruapehu

Turoa are back on the calendar for 2021 and to show how much they support NZ freeriding they are hosting a 3 star sanctioned Junior Freeride Tour event. This is the highest possible sanctioning below the Freeride Junior World Championships.

We are delighted to have Turoa back as a resort partner for the NZJFT 2021 season.


Ruapehu district have hosted a stacked amount of Freeride events over the decades and Turoa have been a long supporter of the New Zealand Junior Freeride Tour.

Turoa is located on the southern side of Mt Ruapehu, an active volcano and huge mountain in the Central Plateau. It is known for its glorious spring corn, incredible history respect of this region.

We will be crowning overall NZJFT champion's at the final stop & having the 3* sanctioning is huge for overall points.

This resort boasts a huge areas of skiing and the venue here has technical features and incredible viewing for specators.


18th - 20th September - one day of competition, 3 WEATHER DAYS!


14 - 17 years: 1 run only

14 - 16 Years: 1 run only

Under 14: 1 run only

(There will be an under 10 category, numbers dependent on categories)


8.00am - 8.45am - rider check in

9.15am - riders briefing & visual inspection at base of venue (TBC)

The weather window is 3 days! There is potential the Turoa event could run Saturday/ Sunday or Monday so please book accommodation and travel accordingly.

Mother Nature controls freeride and we will only run the event in safe conditions, hence the addition of the 3rd weather day for 2021.
