Turoa Freeride World Qualifier 2*
WITH GREAT REGRET WE INFORM YOU THAT THE MOUNT OLYMPUS FREERIDE OPEN WILL TAKE A YEAR OFF FOR THE 2020 SEASON.
THE ORGANISORS OF THIS FUN EVENT WANTED TO CONCENTRATE OF SALVAGING THE HIGHEST LEVEL EVENT POSSIBLE THIS YEAR.
THE NEW EVENT IS THE REMARKABLES VERTICAL DROP.
THIS IS THE YEAR FOR NON RANKED RIDERS TO GIVE THEMSELVES A CHANCE TO TAKE DOWN SOME OF NZ'S TOP RANKED FREERIDE WORLD TOUR ATHLETES.
HOPEFULLY NEXT YEAR WE CAN COME BACK STRONGER THAN EVER FOR SOME SRPING FUN ON THE VOLCANO.
The Turoa FWQ 2* is a brand new Freeride World Qualifier event. It will be held on the legendary volcano Mt Ruapehu, situated in the North Island of New Zealand.
The 2* FWQ event is sanctioned by the prestigious Freeride World Tour and is the perfect stepping stone to qualify for higher level FWQ events.
23rd -27th September (1 day of competition, 4 possible weather days)
1) Registration via Freeride World Tour website
2) You must become a freeride world tour member and fill out a waiver
One event license 10 EURO or season license 35 EURO.
1 run only, as per Freeride Qualifier event
Visual inspection only

The venue will be either on Turoa or Whakapapa, a decision will be made before the weather window with consideration of the current snow conditions.
8.00am - 8.45am - rider check in
9.15am - riders briefing & visual inspection at base of venue (TBC)
10.00am - event starts
4.00pm - prize giving
Helmet, Back Protection, Backpack, Avalanche Transceiver, Shovel and probe are mandatory.
Equipment will be checked on comp day and if any piece is missing no competition!
Mouth guard and ABS are not mandatory but highly recommend
